Amarillo’s Only Female Firefighter Speaks with MAHS Students

She only has three months left to retirement and she left a big impact on the students of Midway Alternative High School. Carole Kroger is the only female officer of the Amarillo Fire Department. Capt. Kroger shared her life story, including the ups and downs, and her journey to becoming one of only a hand full of female firefighters. She discussed with the students the various certifications and physical qualifications needed to become a firefighter. Needless to say, the “wow-factor” of having Capt. Kroger speaking and sharing the duties and responsibilities of a firefighter provoked a large number of questions from both guys and girls of Midway. We would very much like to thank Capt. Kroger for sharing her story and her time with the students of Midway.
